to the Barrington Tops
After the success of last year’s As You Like It, Newcastle’s Tantrum Theatre makes a bold return to The Shakespeare in Gloucester festival with boisterous Shakespearean farce. Leap into the chaos with A Comedy of Errors, a contemporary re-imagining of the riotous comedy about mistaken identity. Watch the joy and confusion unfold as the paths of two sets of long-separated twins finally cross and mayhem follows.
Adapted and directed by Carl Young this comedic classic is hurled into the 21st century where everyone has a mobile phone and a Facebook account; but miscommunication reigns.
There will be one performance on Friday 11th May and a Matinee and evening performance on Saturday 12th May.
This year, the evening performances continue the popular format introduced a few years ago: Friday night’s show will be presented earlier with a longer interval allowing you to enjoy a hearty “Ploughman’s Platter” served at your table. An example the foods served are a cobb of bread, cheese, roast beef, celery, apple and pickles.
On Saturday night, a feast will be served creating an Elizabethan banquet theme and include roast meats served whole at the table for self carving with seasonal vegetables, finishing with a yummy dessert, followed by “the performance”.
A licensed bar will feature local and regional wines and a selection of beer and soft drinks to further enhance the dining experience (No BYO).
